We especially recommend a visit to the world’s most bookstore, found in the city centre. Such a visit is easy to include in a shopping trip along the pedestrian zone. Since 2006, the bookstore has been located inside the oldest Gothic church in the Netherlands, and it contains more than 20,000 books. Previously, this church also housed a garage for bicycles, boxing matches and a car exhibition, among other things. In the Netherlands there are more churches than believers, and as a result, old church buildings have been put to all kinds of interesting uses.
